New York City 5

New York City, January 1939

This brief sequence of in New York City footage was in all likelihood shot around January 14, 1939, when Ross had a speaking engagement at the Foreign Policy Association, at New York’s Hotel Astor.1 As remains of snow can be seen on ledges and on the street, while the trees are leafless, it doesn’t match the footage Ross’s made shortly after his arrival, in October-November 1938 (see items New York City 1, New York City 2, New York City 3, and New York City 4).
