The ‘Verniggerung’ of China
Canton / Guangzhou, January–February 1930
According to the book chapter in Das Meer der Entscheidungen (1942) which recycles this article, it takes place in Guangzhou. Using Ross’s own writing and external sources, his stay in China can be roughly dated between December, 1929, (as he was still in Rabaul at the end of November and claims having spent Christmas 1929 in Hong Kong), and February 1930, which would give him enough time to travel to India and be in Bareja on March 13, 1930.
